Fin dal 1743 ha servito i vini delle decime del Capitolo del vicino Duomo. Per rispettare la quiete, la mescita doveva terminare al calar del buio e le luci esser spente. E nacque il nome "Oste Scuro", preferito dagli arciduchi Eugen e Franz Ferdinand d'Este. Dipinti originali, armi e vetri antichi ornano la stube Andreas Hofer e quella vescovile. La "Künstlerstübele" è stata fucina di pensiero degli artisti tirolesi Defregger e Bachlechner. La stessa famiglia lo guida dal 1904.

It has served wine of tithes of the nearby Duomo since 1743. The pouring had to take place before dark to respect silence. That is how the name "dark host" was born. It was favourite by Archdukes Eugen and Franz Ferdinand on Este. Original paintings, ancient weapons and glass decorate the "stube". The "Künstlerstübele" was the place where Tyrolean artists Defregger and Bachlechner used to meet. The same family has been managing the place since 1904.
