During fascism, Ferruccio Parri and Carlo Rosselli, founders of the Italian Republic, would eat here every day at noon when they were exiled at Lipari for political reasons. Also Ciano (the son-in-law of Mussolini) would order his meals from "Filippino" when he was staying at the Terme di San Calogero. Carnera destroyed a table with his fist. Monet paid the bill with one of his paintings. To this day the grand children of the original owner still prepare the famous fish sauce known as the "salsa di scorfano alla liparota".
