Erede degli antichi "crotti" del lago di Como, scavati nella roccia per conservare cibi e vini, negli anni Trenta era il piccolo quartier generale dei più sfuggenti contrabbandieri, mimetizzati tra boscaioli e cavatori di pietra che frequentavano il locale. Delicatamente restaurato, è oggi depositario delle antiche ricette lariane e dell'arte del convivio culturale, sede dell'Accademia Pliniana, che richiama artisti, letterati, musicisti.

One of the last "Crottos" (caves) of Lake Como. In the old days these caves or grottoes, excavated in the rocks, were used as wine cellars and to preserve the food. In the thirties it became a hideout for the most elusive smugglers who camouflaged themselves amongst the woodcutters and the quarry men who frequented this place. Restored with great care, this is where all the ancient recipes of Lake Como have been stored and it is the site of the Plinian Academy for convivial and cultural banquets attended by artists, men of letters and musicians.
