E fu subito trattoria letteraria. Nel 1927, Orio Vergani ideò il celebre Premio destinato al libro più bello, raccogliendo le simboliche "multe" fatte pagare agli scrittori che arrivavano in ritardo alle riunioni. Da allora, ogni anno, un celebre libro e menu finiscono appesi alle pareti. E nella saletta dei "baguttiani", ogni giorno, l'intelligenza si riunisce a tavola con i più bei nomi della cultura.

As soon as it opened in 1924, this restaurant became popular as the ìTrattoriaî where the literary world met. In 1927, the well-known Italian writer Orio Vergani founded the Bagutta Prize, awarded annually to the best-selling book of the year. The walls are covered with the jackets of these best-sellers, together with the special menus created each year to celebrate the award dinner.
