In a beautifully restored fifteenth-century convent, the hotel - which was discovered by Kaiser Wilhelm II and Edward of England - has all the tastefulness and charming hospitality of Sicilian tradition. Anatole France, Pirandello, Thomas Mann and Steinbeck all created works here, on the splendid terrace over the sea with the majestic Etna behind. The Truman Suite, with its precious red lacquer furniture brought in specially from the Orient for the American president, remains to this day. A place of haute cuisine and palatial luxury.
