Adagiato sul Lungarno e dal sapore ottocentesco, è un complesso di edifici molto antichi e alcune camere sono in una torre del X secolo. Il catasto di Pisa del 1428-1429 riporta che uno di questi edifici già "faceva albergo". Nel 1839, quand'era locanda, alloggiò i primi clienti illustri in occasione del 1° Congresso Italiano degli Scienziati. Ha ospitato centinaia di personaggi, tra cui le regine d'Olanda e di Serbia, il principe del Giappone, Roosevelt, Respighi, Mascagni, Ruskin, Dickens, Dumas, Pirandello, D'Annunzio, Zola, Marconi.

Overlooking the Arno, this complex of ancient buildings has a nineteenth-century air about it, though some of the rooms are in a tenth-century tower. The Pisa land registry of 1428-1429 shows that even in those days one of these buildings "was a hostelry". It received its first illustrious guests during the 1st Italian Congress of Scientists in 1839, when it was an inn. Hundreds have been here since, including the queens of the Netherlands and of Serbia, the prince of Japan, Roosevelt, Respighi, Mascagni, Ruskin, Dickens, Dumas, Pirandello, D'Annunzio, Zola, and Marconi.
