Mascagni avrebbe iniziato qui a scrivere l'opera 'La Lodoletta”. Il pittore Guttuso, negli ultimi mesi della Seconda Guerra, vi progettò la rivista 'L'Orsa Maggiore”. Sono passati Stuparich, Zandonai, Badoglio, Sartre, Hemingway e Trilussa che, goloso dell'Anisetta, scrisse 'Quante favole e sonetti m'ha ispirato la Meletti”.
