E quando non erano con lui il suocero Liszt o il violinistra Frontali, Wagner sedeva all'esterno del Caffè, sotto il sole, in un'affollata solitudine che gl'ispirava indimenticabili pagine musicali. Lo ricorda una lapide, all'interno del locale. Le sue sedie, i tavolini, i preziosi lampadari testimoniano il passato illustre e invitano oggi a bere dove sedettero D'Annunzio, Rubinstein, Rostropovich.
 
Richard Wagner enjoyed sitting in the sun outside this café, alone with his thoughts, in the middle of the crowd. He would sit inside in the company of his father-in-law Liszt, and the violinist Frontali. There is a sign which remembers the great composer. The café's illustrious past is an invitation to drink where D'Annunzio, Rubinstein and Rostropovich were regulars.
